Axion Partners was approached by a Fortune 300 insurance sector client to help convert a remote sensing research project into an operational spin out.
The client had identified the need to diversify from industry standard data providers by leveraging newly available satellite and aerial imagery. We quickly helped by forming the team to build the technology and focusing development on tangible commercial outcomes.
Axion Partners' work was pivotal in: hiring the right CEO to take the project from an in-house group to a standalone company with multiple commercial customers; finding and guiding the most technically capable developers; and creating and implementing the product strategy.
The combination of our business capability and technical understanding of how best to use deep learning techniques meant that the client was able to create highly accurate structured data to support pricing and underwriting activities.
The company is now spinning out of the client on the way to a major Series A in 2019.
